Do you have health restrictions?

In the interests of other patrons and in order to minimise the risk of infections and disease, you should observe good hygiene by showering on arrival and washing your hands regularly. You should stay away if you have, or are a close contact of a person with, a respiratory or sexual health disease, are feeling unwell or under a medical directive (e.g. to isolate for 7 days).

Do you have car parking?

We do not have any onsite car parking. There is reasonable street parking around the club, please observe the signs as weekday time restrictions apply and are policed.

In the city, 431 Pulteney Street, just south of Hurtle Square, next door to The Astor Hotel.

Is there an age limit or other restrictions to entry?

Pulteney 431 is a private club, with a minimum age of 18 to gain entry, ID may be requested for proof of age. We, at our utmost discretion, may preclude any person from entering at any time. We may ask people to leave if they are disrespectful to our staff and patrons. No means No.

Yes, if you intend to return to the club in the same session just ask for a pass-out from the reception desk.

How can I become a member?

If you attend the club regularly then membership can provide you with cheaper entry. Just ask at reception about becoming a member and our staff can organise it for you.

Can I use my mobile phone or other devices inside the club?

Use of photographic or recording devices anywhere on the premises is strictly prohibited. Mobile phones (to make calls or message) and other devices such as lap top computers and tablets can only be used in the Billiard Lounge, Café, Locker Room or Garden. If you use your phone anywhere else you will be told to leave.

What about sexual health?

In the interests of other patrons and in order to minimise the risk of infection from sexually transmitted diseases, indeed any disease, you should get regular checkups with your doctor or sexual health clinic, and use the protections offered (such as by using condoms or taking PrEP and Doxy-PEP). The club has regular input from SAMESH sexual health counsellors. We currently host a CONNECT project HIV testing kit dispenser which allows users to undertake free rapid testing onsite or at home. We encourage people to douche before entry although we provide limited facilities free of charge, just enquire at reception.

I am transgender or do not identify with a particular gender, what's the go?

Pulteney 431 was established nearly 50 years ago as a place for gay and bisexual cis men to meet likeminded men, a purpose it still fulfils. These days it is more common to see transgender or people who do not identify with any particular gender making use of the facilities. Consent is very important and everyone, regardless of their identity, must negotiate their own arrangements with those with whom they wish to engage.
